For the 2017 edition OVS has chosen to portray the decorative arts. There’s an enormous heritage of artefacts, but most of all of the knowhow and techniques that are hallmarks of the Italian history of art and craftsmanship. Wood, metal, ceramics, woven fabrics and stone are the materials that, with the amazing work carried out by artists and artisans, have given rise to real works of art to enhance and decorate churches, royal palaces and noble residences.
These elements were the inspiration for the Woman and Man capsules in limited edition: these garments are inspired by acknowledged masterpieces of Italian art, but chosen from the lesser-known ones, inspired by the iconographic patterns in certain works of the 17th and 18th centuries belonging to the collection in the Palatine Gallery in Palazzo Pitti and the Museo degli Argenti in Florence, and the Museo Poldi Pezzoli in Milan.
For this edition, too, there will be a fundraising collection in OVS stores which, together with the proceeds from this capsule, will be devolved to give new life to artistic works or monuments that need safeguarding. This year, OVS has chosen to support Norcia, one of the towns symbolising the earthquakes that have hit central Italy.
